Our home from home environment

Our home from home environment nurtures children’s wellbeing and development by stimulating their curiosity, supporting their growing independence, building on their confidence and ensuring learning is always fun.

Our indoor and outdoor areas allow children to explore and learn about the world around us, making links with their families and home experiences.

Our rooms

Each room has its unique design and routines to support children’s development needs, from our peaceful baby room, through our curiosity-driven toddler room to our inspirational Pre-school room.

Our curriculum - learning through play

A day at

Smarties

At Smarties Nursery we follow the play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) national framework for children from birth to five years.

We plan and implement our curriculum in close collaboration with our families. As every child is unique, develops and learns in different ways and at their own pace. Experiences are individually planned based on children’s interests and stages of development to help them reach their full potential and develop a life-long love for learning.

Your child’s key person

Your key person is a dedicated professional who will form a special relationship with you and your child right from the start of your journey with us. At Smarties Nursery we view the key person approach as fundamental for working in partnership with our families and caring for children’s wellbeing and unique needs. Parents are the child’s first educator and most knowledgeable experts. As such, your key person will be eager to learn all about your child and their ongoing experiences at home and they will share with you your child’s experiences at the nursery and together plan the way ahead.

Our inclusive ethos

At Smarties Nursery we believe that all children have the right to access early education in an inclusive environment. Our professional staff understand and adhere to the requirements of the SEND code of practice 2015. Smarties’ Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) works with children, their families and their key person, to assist with any individual needs or requirements, as per our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Local Offer.

“Thank you for all your help and support throughout the time we have been at the nursery, it’s been an amazing adventure and experience.”
